The ability of the Detachable Dissolvable Microneedles to systematically deliver insulin is confirmed in rats.

July, 2022
The preliminary experiment at Chulalongkorn University’s animal center, conducted as part of a collaborative research project involving researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science of Chulalongkorn University and Mineed Technology, revealed that with the appropriate needle matrix, detachable dissolvable microneedles could deliver insulin to lower blood sugar levels in rats. The result reveals that the microneedle-treated mice show a much longer time of steady low sugar level. The researchers are certain that the sustained release of insulin is responsible for this sustained decrease in sugar levels with no sudden steep drop. The team is now setting up another experiment to explore the kinetics of insulin level and blood sugar level for insulin delivery via detachable microneedles.
